The Baseball Lifer

Following a brief "Week that Was" segment, college player and pitching coach Jack Moore makes his first appearance on the show. He talks about future major leaguers like David Wright he worked with early on.

I present highlights from games between May 15 and 21, featuring the Iowa Cubs, Vanderbilt, Liberty softball, the Marlins and the Yankees.

Following my "Week that Was" segments featuring highlights from last week, fellow "Sports Round Table" panelist Gene Johnson joins me to talk about the Pete Rose decision making him eligible for Hall of Fame consideration.

A few highlights from around baseball between my last show and this one. The Miami Marlins, Vanderbilt Commodores, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants are featured.

On May 18, 2024, the Miami Marlins' AAA broadcaster Scott Kornberg got the chance to make his major league debut behind the microphone. Shortly after that, he joined me for one of my favorite interviews of 2024.

I open this show with a lengthy feature about the Cubs' amazing wins on April 18 and 22 including some of the sounds from those two exceptional games. Then, I bring you an encore presentation of an interview I did with Eric Paddon. Like me, he collects recordings of baseball broadcasts going back to the 1930's. Most of the games I have, especially from the 1970's came from him. We discuss how he built his collection and some of his favorite games.

Dave Collins, a minor league broadcaster since the 1980's makes his third appearance on the show. Since 2005, he has done broadcasts, written social media and worked behind the scenes wherever needed with the Lancaster Stormers of the Atlantic League. He was in AA when I was, and we discuss both the past and present in minor league baseball.

We share audio highlights from some of the best games from March 27 through April 2. Dave Sims, Chris Garagiola, John Rooney among others describe the action.

Following the injuries to Luis Gil and Gerrit Cole of the Yankees, we offer you an encore presentation of our interview with athletic trainer Eric D'agati. We talk at length about the numerous injuries we see among baseball players and what might cause them to happen as often as they do.

We say goodbye and celebrate with some of his classic calls and some of the funny side of Milwaukee's baseball icon.
